University of Texas Medical Branch

Many people know that I began this blog after accepting Physician Assistant school admissions offers, but I haven’t disclosed where my final decision is. I have chosen to attend PA school at the University of Texas Medical Branch located in Galveston.

Things that stood out to me about this program and ultimately allowed an easy decision for me are the location, which is close to home and family, St. Vincent’s clinic where first year PA students and other medical specialty students at UTMB are allowed to see patients and practice the skills we will learn in the classroom as soon as the 1st week of school, the cross cultural course that includes some medical Spanish, the potential for clinical rotations to be close to home and to family, the weekly schedule that includes one day off per week during the didactic year, dissection of real cadavers, and lastly the tuition is one of the most affordable of PA schools around the country.

UTMB is a great established program that even by the interview I can tell the faculty really care about the student’s success. I am extremely blessed to have the opportunity to continue my education there and I am excited to start in July!

If anyone has any questions on UTMB, the things that stood out to me as a program, or comparing Physician Assistant schools after interviewing my contact information is on the page “Contact Me” or you can leave a comment below!
